W6 - Final Proposal
I want to do a new take on the traditional timer for the final project. Most of the conventional timer looks outdated, and hard to have a sense of time within each minute. So instead, I want to use LED lights to make one that can sit on the countertop and be controlled with one hand.
The timer will be a short cylindrical form. The top surface of the timer is a piece of semitransparent glass or acrylic. Two rings of NeoPixels on the board will indicate seconds and minutes. The entire device is rotatable and connected to a rotary encoder.
The user can continuously rotate the cylinder to set the time and press down the device to start the timer.
Some of the challenges for me are figuring out how to use the rotary encoder and custom make a NeoPixel ring. Also, powering these LEDs will require a decent amount of energy, so finding a suitable battery source will be crucial.
